The Department of Pediatrics at CHEO, University of Ottawa is recruiting a full-time Pediatric Endocrinologist within the Division of Endocrinology.

The ideal candidate will be Royal College certified (or equivalent) and have a subspecialty certification in Pediatric Endocrinology with additional formal training in Pediatric Genetic and Metabolic Bone Diseases. The ideal candidate will have experience and interest in clinical research. The successful candidate will be eligible for an appointment in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa (with an academic rank commensurate with experience). While English is the language of the health record, functionality in French is an asset.

The Division of Endocrinology

The successful specialty physician will join the Division of Endocrinology. The Division provides comprehensive care to infants, children and youth with a wide variety of disorders, all of which are supported by interdisciplinary teams. These programs include general endocrinology, type 1 and 2 diabetes, genetic and metabolic bone diseases, weight management, and gender diversity. In addition, the Division supports diabetes out-reach plus specialty clinics in pediatric lipids, neuro-oncology, endocrine-gynecology, rare bone disorders and Healthy and Active Living. The endocrinology inpatient service is dynamic, serving CHEO’s large catchment area (which extends to circumpolar Canada), providing clinicians with opportunities to care for a wide depth and breadth of pediatric endocrinology conditions.

The CHEO Genetic and Metabolic Bone Disease Program is world-renowned, supporting a broad population of children and youth with complex skeletal health disorders plus a highly active research program. Beyond bone disorders, the Division also runs an active clinical research program in diabetes, classic endocrinology, weight management, transgender medicine, and health care delivery. The Division’s scholarly activities and formal research are supported by CHEO’s Research Institute, with abundant opportunities for collaboration and mentorship within and beyond the Division. The Division’s Royal College-accredited Pediatric Endocrinology Residency Program, in addition to Fellowship opportunities in both General Endocrinology and Genetic and Metabolic Bone Diseases, provide Faculty with the opportunity to develop young pediatric endocrinologists from across Canada and around the world.

Employment Opportunity – Seeking a Full-Time Pediatric Endocrinologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor Level

The CHEO Department of Pediatrics, Division of Endocrinology, is seeking a full-time Pediatric Endocrinologist at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor (with cross-appointment to the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa).The successful applicant must be eligible to obtain a specialist’s license to practice medicine in Ontario as well as Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Pediatrics plus Endocrinology and Metabolism. The successful candidate must also have specialized training and interest in Pediatric Genetic and Metabolic Bone Diseases. The successful candidate will provide excellent clinical care, participate in academic endeavors with a focus on clinical research and/or quality improvement, and will also participate in educational and scholarly activities (i.e. academic rounds, fellow, resident and medical student teaching, research supervision). The successful candidate will also have opportunity to participate in administrative roles within the Division and/or Department, commensurate with interests and experience.

The proposed position will include clinics with a focus on endocrinology and bone diseases plus a minor in type 1 diabetes. The successful applicant will share endocrinology inpatient service and on-call with 6.6 pediatric endocrinologists.
