Clinical Faculty Position
Division of General Pediatrics, McMaster Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Healthcare
Department of Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics at McMaster Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) are seeking Pediatricians to join the Division of General Pediatrics, providing Level II NICU care at the St. Joseph’s Charlton site. St. Joseph’s has a busy birthing unit with over 3400 deliveries/year. The special care nursery is a 17-bed level 2B nursery. The pediatricians also provide consultations and follow up in ambulatory clinics, on the mother-baby unit, the Breastfeeding and Newborn Assessment clinic and lead an innovative Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Program.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess expertise in Level 2 neonatal care, supported by experience as a pediatrician or neonatologist. Additionally, the candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to advancing education. Working as part of a team of pediatricians based at St. Joseph’s Hospital, their responsibilities will include attending deliveries as needed, alongside an active nurse/RT team. The neonatal team comprises experienced nursing staff, a full-time NP, Social Worker, Dietician, Occupational therapist, Pharmacist, and medical learners. Close collaboration is maintained with family physicians, obstetricians, midwives, and the leadership team within the Women’s and Infants’ Program.

The successful candidate will be provided with an opportunity to provide ambulatory care at St. Joseph’s. The team of pediatricians at St. Joseph’s work together with allied health to provide equitable, accessible, and inclusive care to the diverse population of infants, children, youth, and their families at St. Joseph’s. Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics. Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, who must hold or be eligible for a license to practice in the Province of Ontario. However, internationally trained subspecialists qualifying under the Practice Eligibility Route (PER) the primary route to certification for International Medical Graduates will also be considered.

  • A brief statement describing any contributions made or planned in relation to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion or inclusive excellence in teaching, research, or service within higher education, community-based or other professional settings (2-page maximum)
  • Names and contact information of three professional referees; letters of reference are not required and will not be reviewed at the application stage; letters of recommendation from referees will be requested at later stages of the search process.

Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, who must hold or be eligible for a license to practice in the Province of Ontario. However, internationally trained subspecialists qualifying under the Practice Eligibility Route (PER) the primary route to certification for International Medical Graduates will also be considered.
