Mō tēnei tūranga mahi - About the role
The purpose of this position is to provide coaching and advisory services to leaders and teams in your portfolio areas.
You will ensure a values-based and people-focused approach that is compliant and supportive of kaimahi (employees) and minimises risk to the business.
Working with a portfolio of internal clients, you will work collaboratively with leaders to design intentional P&C plans for their teams, aligning Ara wide P&C initiatives into the plan as well as providing advice on what other activities can be established, thereby meeting the individual needs of clients.
Working in collaboration with the broader People and Culture team, specialised P&C leads and divisional leaders, you will ensure proactive plans are in place.
Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, along with peers, lead and participate in P&C projects aimed at continually lifting the employee experience in a way that supports the Ara strategy and culture.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in P&C and proactively suggest process improvements and innovative approaches to enhance the effectiveness of regional P&C initiatives
Scope:
- Build strong relationships with your portfolio areas
- Understand your portfolio areas and where P&C approaches will contribute to the delivery of their business plans
- Coach Managers to develop people leadership capability and increase employee engagement in support of Ara's strategic direction
- Partner with your portfolio leaders to embed the transformative people projects into everyday practice
- Work closely with your specialist P&C peers when your portfolio areas need Employment Relations, Wellbeing, H&S and/or Capability support
- Contribute to the strategic and tactical planning of the P&C Division
- Provide accurate and relevant advice in accordance with NZ employment legislation and policy
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills/Experience
Minimum of 3 years' experience in P&C/HR partnership or Senior HR Advisory role
- Coaching and influencing skills that will make a difference to the teams you partner with
- Experience dealing with and resolving ER/performance issues
- Experience interpreting collective/individual employment agreements and NZ employment law, and providing advice
- Demonstrated experience in change management /leadership
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage delivery of multiple and conflicting priorities
- Tertiary level qualification at Degree or Diploma level in Human Resources or related field would be preferable
- Preference would be given to someone with knowledge of, and/or experience in the New Zealand tertiary education environment.
