Introduction:
Are you a practical, people-focused HR professional who enjoys providing timely, accurate and customer-focused advice?

CRCS is looking for a People and Culture Advisor to join our Business and Infrastructure team and support managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle.
This is a permanent full-time position based at our TPH office in Bruce, ACT, with travel across the Capital Region and flexibility to work from home in line with operational and work health and safety requirements.

About the role
The People and Culture Advisor provides practical, timely and customer-focused people and culture advice and support to managers and employees across CRCS. The role provides generalist People and Culture advice, manages HR inbox and support across day-to-day employee lifecycle matters, helping ensure advice is consistent, practical and aligned with CRCS policies, EBA, procedures and values.

A key focus of the position is coordinating and strengthening learning and development activities that build employee capability across CRCS programs and services. You will work with leaders to identify training needs, coordinate mandatory and role-based training, support leadership development plans, and source training options that respond to service delivery, compliance, child safety, quality and workforce capability needs.

What you will do

  • Provide practical, timely and accurate People and Culture advice to managers and employees within agreed policies, procedures and escalation pathways.
  • Manage and respond to employee and manager queries through the HR inbox, applying CRCS policies, the CRCS EBA Agreement 2023, applicable legislation and Fair Work requirements.
  • Prepare and coordinate employment contracts, variation letters, employee correspondence, onboarding and Day 1 induction requirements using approved processes and templates.
  • Coordinate learning and development activities, training records, resources and reporting to support compliance, induction, service quality, child safety, safeguarding and employee capability.
  • Support managers with supervision, feedback, performance development, learning plans and capability development within agreed policies and escalation pathways.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HR systems and workforce data, and provide reports on workforce metrics to support compliance, audit readiness and evidence-based decision making.
  • Support recruitment and workforce attraction activities, including career expos, job fairs, sector events and other external activities that promote CRCS as an employer.
  • Participate in HR planning, workforce initiatives, People and Culture projects, employee engagement activities and continuous improvement across CRCS programs and services.
What we are looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a People and Culture, HR advisory or workforce administration role.
  • Demonstrated experience in HR advisory work, including employee relations and performance management.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, National Employment Standards and modern awards, particularly the SCHADS Award.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with managers and employees.
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion, professionalism and good judgement.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and professional writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to safety, inclusion and diversity for all people.
Desirable

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Knowledge of child safe standards.
  • Experience working in the community, health, disability or human services sector.
  • Membership, or working towards membership, of the Australian HR Institute.
  • Experience supporting organisational change or workforce development initiatives.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate their commitment to child safety and undergo rigorous screening processes, including Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) checks.

Skills and Experiences:
CRCS also requires all employees to:
Hold or be willing to obtain a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration (ACT) and/or a Working with Children Check (NSW), and have these with them at all times whilst employed by CRCS.
Undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by CRCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise CRCS of any convictions that may effect their eligibility to work or perform the inherent requirements of their position
Maintain full COVID-19 vaccination currency and provide evidence of their vaccinations to CRCS (sensitive information is kept private and in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles) unless they are able to provide suitable evidence of a medical contraindication that prevents them from receiving this vaccine.
