Introduction:
THE OPPORTUNITY
As the People & Culture Project Specialist, you will deliver a diverse portfolio of projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance employee experience, strengthen capability and support workforce objectives.
Working closely with key stakeholders and the broader People & Culture team, you will lead projects across the employee lifecycle, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve systems, strengthen data quality and enhance service delivery. You will also play a key role in the ongoing optimisation of our HRIS platform, improving reporting capability, strengthening data governance and embedding consistent, reliable people processes and data practices.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing project delivery, continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making and stakeholder engagement, and who can confidently deliver outcomes in a complex and fast-paced environment.
This is a temporary full-time opportunity for an 18-month parental leave cover, with hybrid flexibility available to support work and life commitments. POSITION DESCRIPTION
The People & Culture Project Specialist is responsible for the delivery of impactful People & Culture Projects across the Diocese from concept to completion. The role will work closely with our senior leaders, People and Culture Leadership and Business Partnering teams to understand organisational needs and ensure solutions are aligned to strategic and operational goals.
Key focus areas for this role initially include the review of the suite of People & Culture Policies, Procedures and Processes along with the development and execution of a comprehensive HR data analytics strategy.
The incumbent commits to working within Work Health and Safety guidelines and Code of Conduct at all times whilst in the employ of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
Skills and Experiences:
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
- Proven project management and change management experience with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a busy, complex environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practice and employment law.
- Substantial experience integrating people strategies, frameworks and principles into impactful people solutions, that drive a positive employee experience and enable the achievement of organisational goals.
- Analytical and experienced with the development and refinement of HR metrics, with the ability to leverage data to drive insights and inform strategic decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, including an ability to provide effective and appropriate advice and information to a variety of people and to use discretion with confidential data and information.
- Proficiency with MS Office and SharePoint with experience and highly developed skills in managing data and undertaking analysis in MS Excel and other tools.
- Tertiary qualifications in a HR discipline, with experience in a complex enterprise environment; OR extensive experience and analysis expertise in a complex HR environment
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- Qualifications and experience in Project Management and Change Management (Desirable)
