Role Overview:

Person in Charge (PIC)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced social care professional or registered nurse with proven leadership skills to join our team as the Person in Charge (PIC) of our Respite Service. The PIC will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our designated centre, ensuring the highest standards of care and support are consistently delivered.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Person in Charge (PIC) of a designated centre

2. Regulatory Compliance Management

3. Safeguarding Designated Officer

4. Services Supports & Outcome Management

5. Health & Safety and Risk Management

6. Resources Management

7. Staff development

8. Professional leadership

**This is a Fixed Term Contract covering a period of Maternity Leave.

(Note: Due to expansion/restructuring of services there is a strong possibility of a permanent role in the organisation as a PIC in the future. All Contracts are with the Service).

Qualifications and Experience (required):

  • Degree in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, RNID, or related field (validated by QQI).
  • Management qualification.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years experience in a position of Person In Charge (PIC) in a Disability Service.
  • Full driving license.
  • Proficient in both oral and written English language
  • Have the legal right to work in Ireland and currently hold valid work authorisation for Ireland

  • In-depth knowledge of the Intellectual Disability sector, including current trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, with a focus on inspiring and empowering a team to achieve excellence.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to person-centered principles, human rights, and advocacy.
  • Proven ability to manage change and drive service improvements,
  • Sound judgment, resilience, and adaptability in complex and challenging situations.
