Job description
Pretty River is a brand-new private retirement home located in Collingwood. The home is specifically designed for people with dementia and will focus on Resident care and services to help them live with a healthy balance of mind-body-spirit, and purpose. The ideal candidate will be a positive, team oriented, flexible person who puts the needs of the Residents first.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working under the supervision and guidance of the RPN in charge and/or Director of Care
- For UCPS: Contributes within the scope as a team member in the assessment, treatment, provision of care and health promotion for all residents through supportive, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means while adhering to the standards mandated by the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Assists residents with all Activities of Daily Living (ADL) which includes, but not limited to personal hygiene, meals, transfers/mobility, life enrichment and toileting
- Documentation per Pretty River and RHRA standards
- Maintains a clean and safe environment including making beds, collecting and laundering soiled linens and clothing, emptying bed pans, urinals and commodes, remove unsafe objects from use, and clean resident equipment including walkers and wheelchairs
- One and two-person transfers required, as well as the use of mechanical lifts
- Keeps Pretty River’s leadership aware of any incidents involving resident, family and/or staff, including near misses, injuries, unsafe work habits or working conditions
- Provides housekeeping duties as required throughout the shift such as sweeping floors, cleaning spills, cleaning and disinfecting
- Helps with food plating, portioning and serving
Qualifications:
- Personal Support Worker’s certificate program (or Developmental Service worker – DSW) through a recognized College or accredited educational institution
- Experience in long-term care settings as well as experience with older adults living with dementia
- Current Vulnerability Screening Check within the last 6 months or willing to obtain
- Current C.P.R
- GPA is an asset or will train
- An ability to take direction as well as take initiative to safely provide care and programs to meet the individualized resident’s needs
- The PSW will need to work both independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team maintaining a positive attitude and energy while in the Home.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
