The details: Permanent, full time (40 hours per week), with occasional involvement in Saturday dispensary roster

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Working alongside our Senior Pharmacist for Clinical Trials & Research and two pharmacy technicians, you will be immersed in all aspects of clinical trial management. You will be at the centre of delivering our clinical trial services, with responsibilities including supply of trial medications, timely completion of trial documentation and implementing clinical trial processes.

Put your communication and organisation skills to use as you collaborate with our pharmacy compounding unit, hospital clinical trial teams, and external research partners to ensure the seamless execution of trials.

You will gain valuable insight into key elements of clinical trials, including blinding, randomisation and data collection, building a strong foundation of knowledge about clinical research. As part of the Quality and Safe Use of Medicines (QSUM) team, there may also be opportunity to contribute to other work such as medicine guidelines, further enhancing your skills and impact within the organisation.

Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service

Pharmacy Services at Health New Zealand Waikato provides services to Waikato Hospital and rural hospitals across the Waikato, as well as tertiary advisory and support services to the Te Manawa Taki region. The pharmacy service is divided into five teams: Clinical Services, Dispensary and Supply, Oncology, Haematology and Compounding Service, Quality and Safe Use of Medicines (QSUM) and our onsite community pharmacy service (Pharmacy on Meade).


Mōu | About you

  • Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
  • A current annual practising certificate with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand.
  • Good time management and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and effectively in a team
  • Clinical Trials experience is advantageous
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
