Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.

Our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff is that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.

About the role

The Philanthropy Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating and expanding philanthropic support for Eastern Health through the Eastern Health Foundation.

Working closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Foundation team, this role focuses on stewarding and growing relationships with individual donors, private ancillary funds, trusts and foundations. You will contribute across the full philanthropic lifecycle from prospect research and cultivation, through proposal development and grant writing, to stewardship and impact reporting.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of healthcare, philanthropy and community impact, supporting projects and programs that make a meaningful difference to patients, families and clinicians across Eastern Health.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of strong relationship skills, writing capability and philanthropic curiosity, along with a genuine commitment to purpose‑led work.

You will possess:

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a postgraduate degree, with at least three years’ experience in business development, fundraising or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in writing successful grants or funding applications (health sector experience desirable)
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage a diverse range of audiences such as senior leaders, donors, trustees and grant managers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy, discretion and the ability to build and sustain trusted relationships
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage pipelines, reporting and competing timelines
  • Emotional intelligence, self‑awareness and a collaborative approach to working within a team
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively to meet objectives
  • A current driver’s licence

Desirable

  • CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in healthcare philanthropy and contributing to a culture of philanthropy
  • Qualification in fundraising
  • Membership of the Fundraising Institute of Australia

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up-to-date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up-to-date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
