Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing venepuncture and collecting blood samples from patients, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. This role requires a compassionate individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Duties

• Perform blood draws using appropriate techniques while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent contamination.
• Accurately label and process specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Document patient information and maintain accurate records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with medical staff to ensure efficient workflow and address any patient concerns.
• Assist in catheterisation procedures as required, demonstrating proficiency in this skill.
• Provide basic life support when necessary, ensuring readiness for any emergency situations.
• Engage with paediatric patients with sensitivity and care, adapting techniques to suit their needs.
• Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to enhance patient interactions and improve service delivery.

Skills

• Proven experience in phlebotomy, preferably within a hospital setting.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to facilitate effective blood collection.
• Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to laboratory procedures.
• Experience in laboratory environments is advantageous, enhancing understanding of specimen handling.
• Proficiency in aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during procedures.
• Ability to perform catheterisation competently when required.
• Certification in basic life support is essential for maintaining patient safety during emergencies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly when working with paediatric patients, ensuring a comforting experience for young individuals. Job Type: Contract

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
