Position: Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA)
Type: Permanent Full-Time (with flexibility and commitment required)
Under the clinical supervision of a Physiotherapist, the Physiotherapist Assistant functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team, supporting the needs of our clients.
The PTA acts as a healthcare worker who helps patients learn to manage limitations in movement, daily function, and activity. Responsibilities range from supporting treatment programs and patient education to administrative duties and record keeping.
Job Duties:
- Assist and work alongside the physiotherapist during the assessment and treatment of patients.
- Provide patient and family education and support related to physical, emotional, and self-care needs as assigned.
- Use effective verbal and non-verbal communication tools to explain treatment programs and obtain consent from patients who may have communication barriers.
- Provide timely and accurate updates to relevant team members regarding patient progress.
- Actively participate in program planning and implementation.
- Assist in the delivery of treatment plan components as directed by the physiotherapist.
- Support patients with activities such as walking, transfers, and safe mobility.
- Assist patients with individual cognitive, perceptual, and physical programs.
- Help facilitate group activities and exercise programs.
- Monitor and report changes in patient health status to the supervising therapist.
- Assemble and set up therapy equipment.
- Prepare patients for treatment, including escorting and positioning as needed.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Edmonton, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Physiotherapy Assistant: 1 year (preferred)
Work Location: In person
