ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

We have immediate opportunities for skilled people to undertake world-leading training in the United States (U.S), setting you up for a secure career back home in the nuclear-powered submarine program - Australia's largest-ever industrial endeavour. Deployments are commencing before the end of 2024 and throughout 2025.

You will have access to cutting edge training in Pearl Harbor (Hawaii) for 12-24 months.


Role & Responsibilities

As a Pipe Fitter on this program, you will support the pipe fitting functions with a strong emphasis on Safety Performance, Quality and Technical standards.

To be successful in this role, you will have trade qualifications in a metal trade discipline, with knowledge of pipe fabrication and installation, Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems, testing and verification techniques. Your experience would have been gained in the manufacture, installation, test and verification of Piping Systems in the Construction, Heavy Engineering, Defence, or Shipbuilding industries. Knowledge of CNC Pipe Bending machines, Draw Bending and other various manual bending techniques would also be favourable.

The training will be a combination of classroom-based training and on the job learning.

Opportunities are available immediately and individuals wishing to express interest in a position should be available and interested in being repatriated in the near term.

At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines.

Please note this is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.

Eligibility Criteria

The successful person will possess:

  • Trade Qualification - Metal Trade.
  • 1-5 years (Max. 5 years) experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with working in restricted areas and confined spaces.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and an eagerness to learn and develop new skills.

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
