DEPARTMENT: Technical & Procurement


ROLE PURPOSE: Reporting to the Head of Planning, the Planner has responsibility for the development and monitoring of programme solutions. These solutions will include developing tender submissions, construction/target programmes, procurement scheduling, resource/cost allocations, on site duties, short-term planning and the co-ordination of report development.

Working closely with the Head of Planning and Project Delivery Teams, the Planner will contribute to the continued success and growth of the construction division and will be expected to meet personal development targets, project goals and business unit targets.


Role Responsibilities

  • Planning and scheduling all aspects of the programme, to ensure efficient and on-budget delivery.
  • Provide consistent, accurate and reliable programme data.
  • Develop and communicate planning intent and proposed solutions competently using Asta PowerProject.
  • Support the Senior Planner and Head of Planning to prepare programmes for the project teams in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Liaise with project teams to ensure consistency of key assumptions on methodologies.
  • Identify opportunity and key risks during the programming process.
  • Provide regular updates to key stakeholders as required on programme progress.
  • Provide high quality reports to key stakeholders on both a regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure programme requirements are met.
  • Review tender/construction drawings/specifications/bills to understand the project, to establish a robust programme solution.
  • Having an understanding of the planning obligations required on various forms of construction contracts.
  • Develop and monitor detailed short-term programmes in conjunction with the project delivery team.
  • Effectively present and communicate the impact of programmed activity slippage and critical path analysis.
  • Accurately measure and justify progress and reporting estimates against the programme targets.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

  • 3+ years experience working as a Planner in the construction industry
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
