The opportunity - Te tūranga

In this senior role, you will be responsible for the editorial direction of the Breakfast programme, along with Executive Producer Breakfast, ensuring we have the latest and most informative content every day. This role will focus on both breaking news and long-term planning for the show. This role will be able to make editorial calls independently while also working closely with, and supporting, the Executive Producer

To be successful in this role, we are looking for

• A good knowledge of the craft of making video content (on air and online) using graphic elements and other treatments to tell a story the best way possible
• Strong editorial news sense with a keen eye for up-and-coming stories and news topics that need highlighting
• Strong contacts across a range of sectors
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Good attention to detail
• Sound and fast decision-making skills.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Good general knowledge across industry.
• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, knowledge of editorial traps and media law.
• Focused and performs well under pressure.
• Able to work with deadlines.
• Demonstrates good general knowledge/likes current affairs and news
• Maintains a good general knowledge and keen awareness of local, national and international events and across daily news developments.
