Plant Shop Associate - Part Time

• Compensation: $21 CAD per hour + 4% vacation pay
• Hours: 5-7 hour shifts, 1-2 shifts per week
• Experience required: 1+ years (Customer service/ sales/ houseplant care)

About Frondly

Frondly is a new kind of plant company. We sell indoor plants in-store and online and our mission is to radically improve the experience of buying plants, and make taking care of them easy and fun.

We’re looking for a new shopkeeper to join our small team and help us work towards achieving our goal. Although plants are what we sell, we consider ourselves to be a creative home decor brand, and an innovative logistics and customer service company.

We pride ourselves on our excellent service and work with customers 1-on-1 in our shop to help guide them to the right choice.

Here’s what you’ll do

Primary Responsibilities

- Customer Service

• Greet customers in the store in a friendly and welcoming manner
• Learn about each customer’s needs and their home’s environment and use your knowledge of plants to help guide them to the right one for them
• Acknowledge and resolve customer issues with support from the team
• Communicate in a timely and professional manner with your team members

- Sales

• Use an iPad and Shopify POS terminal to check clients out and take their payment
• Schedule customer orders for delivery (as needed)

Secondary Responsibilities

- Plant Care & Store Maintenance

• Keep the store sales-ready by updating pricing, restocking products and regularly sweeping floors and wiping shelves.
• Evaluate and monitor plants' health and water them as needed.

- Local Deliveries (occasional)

• Deliver orders locally (within Vancouver) as needed
• Drive a light cargo van (Nissan NV200)
• Deliver live plants, pots & accessories to customers’ homes with care
• Follow routes and delivery schedules using delivery software (Easy Routes) and delivery apps (Apple / Google Maps)
• Communicate with customers to ensure orders are successfully received.

About you

• You are very confident speaking about a variety of houseplants.
• You love to help and are comfortable talking with a wide range of people.
• You can keep a cool head under pressure.
• You can work and make decisions independently.
• You are organized and can follow standard operating procedures consistently and accurately.
• You are confident in using technology to do your job.
• You are eager to learn and grow.

Requirements

• Experience in customer service, sales or retail.
• Experience working with plants in a garden center or plant shop would be an asset but extensive personal experience or interest in houseplants would be sufficient.
• Proficient using Apple technology and software.
• Experience using Shopify would be an asset but not required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Have a valid BC Driver's Permit.
• Can lift packages up to 40 pounds.
