Job Description:

  • Read and understand drilling and cutting production blueprints / plans.
  • Perform exact measurements and utilize cutting templates to cut metal using industrial electronic and manual saws.
  • Program the industrial saws to cut according to plans.
  • Undertake metal preparation/finishing work that will include: sanding, sharpening, cutting, deburring, and grinding.
  • Mark and identify parts that need to be drilled according to plans.
  • Ability to fully operate plasma cutting table and CNC operator console.
  • Anticipates, oversees, reviews, and completes setup adjustments.
  • Inspects material specifications on nesting report and able to make necessary adjustments and tool changes to maintain quality specifications with the ability to change programs.
  • Efficient operation of the numerically controlled plasma table by challenging the capabilities of the machine and maximizing the utilization of the material consumed.
  • Responsible for burning various materials as defined by the job orders, verification of burning accuracy while minimizing the effects of wasted materials, and to optimize production, quality, and efficiency.
  • Confirm order requirements are met, including the proper selection of job priority, material selection, material alignment, gas flows, speed, and program loading.
  • Take a key role in machine upkeep, machine health, and reliability through proactive participation in daily and continual preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with fellow plasma operators and leadership, relaying any relevant information, including material, paperwork, supplies, inventory, quality, productivity, equipment, and personnel issues that have or could impact the machine operation.
  • Identify, escalate, issues of non-conformance while maintaining focus on minimizing scrap and rework operations.
  • Accurately complete necessary paperwork and time sheets to properly manage inventory and job cost.
  • Keep personal and common work areas clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties and cross-train as assigned by supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Regularly lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Assist with project work/ other duties as assigned as directed by Supervisor and Department Management.

Desired skills:

  • Experience with ProNest or other CAM nesting software is preferred.
  • Familiarity of torch consumables, and configurations for various materials and settings.
  • Ability to successfully operate a plasma table is preferred.
  • Metal cutting experience is preferred.
  • CNC Machine experience is preferred.
  • Ability to operate gantry cranes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
