Meet the team:
In this role, the audience experience is at the forefront of everything we do. We work at the sharp end of ensuring our audiences can access their favourite content across RTÉ’s platforms, where and when they expect.

About the role:
Reporting to the Platform Services Supervisor you will:
  • Be responsible for the daily application of access services across RTÉ platforms. Preparation, co-ordination and finalisation of high quality subtitles, audio description and ISL services, ensuring these services are completed to the highest standard, ready for broadcast/publish
  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide a range of optimised platform services, ensuring the best possible audience experience. This includes optimised access services, schedules and video and audio metadata across a range of platforms
  • Responsibilities include, but not limited to, subtitling co-ordination and preparation in line with Coimisiún na Meán Access Rules, for transmission/publish across RTÉ output. This requires an excellent standard of grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Champion the diversity of the audiences we serve, helping to celebrate and advocate for inclusive content strategies that resonate with a broad range of viewers
  • Have a strong understanding of commissioning workflows and deliverables across all content, and Coimisiún na Meán’s Sound & Vision Scheme
  • Foster strong internal and external communications, championing the activities and accomplishments of our teams, across the organisation. Promote a culture of collaboration, transparency, and recognition, ensuring that all departments are aligned on platform-related initiatives
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of our platform data tracking and reporting responsibilities, including access services and content reporting
  • Ensure metadata is accurately captured and distributed, exploring cross-platform opportunities to serve and grow audiences, automating where possible to allow for scale and volume
  • Oversee the application of tools and services within the media workflow, ensuring that content and metadata move smoothly, from delivery to distribution
  • Collaborate with content, programming, and digital teams to ensure that platform services align with editorial strategies, regulatory obligations, and audience engagement requirements
  • Proactively identify and troubleshoot any technical or content-related issues, resolving issues quickly and minimising disruptions to the audience experience
  • Lead workflow projects and workstreams that add value and optimise outcomes
  • Lead operational workstreams for significant events of national interest, ensuring smooth information flow
  • Spearhead the exploration, integration, and adaptation of emerging platforms, tools, and services, ensuring our operations remain at the cutting edge in terms of workflows, processes, and technology
  • Embrace future ways of working including the integration of new technologies and services within the media supply chain, from cloud-based to AI-driven solutions
  • Ensure metadata is accurately captured and distributed, exploring cross-platform opportunities to serve and grow audiences, automating where possible to allow for scale and volume

About you:
You will:
  • Have strong organisational skills to track multiple projects, timelines, and deadlines across various platforms without sacrificing quality
  • Have an excellent standard of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Have a high level of keyboard skills, be computer literate, have an understanding of the various elements which make up television schedules and VOD services
  • Be detail-oriented with an ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and focus, ensuring that our broadcast and digital requirements are met consistently
  • Have solid and extensive experience of the media workflows and technologies used to optimise and add value to our content, operations and services (e.g. programme scheduling, access services, metadata), across a variety of platforms such as TV, Radio, or Digital
  • Be an excellent communicator who can work effectively with internal teams (such as content, commercial, operational, and technical) and external partners, representative groups or vendors
  • Be a proactive problem-solver with strong troubleshooting skills and a forward-thinking approach to platform management
  • Be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities can shift rapidly and capable of quickly pivoting when last-minute adjustments or unexpected issues arise
  • Have an ability to grasp new software, technologies, and platform requirements, adapting efficiently to an evolving digital environment
  • Be willing to share insights and ideas, contribute to brainstorming sessions, and assist colleagues when needed to achieve common goals

Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of the Irish language would be considered an advantage

This appointment will be made on the Platform Co-ordinator grade and is being offered on a one year fixed-term employment contract basis. The salary band for this grade is from €46,141 to €66,835 gross per annum.

It is also our intention to form a panel from this competition that may be used to fill any future Platform Co-ordinator (Platform Services) vacancies that may arise within the next two years.

As part of the recruitment process, candidates will be required to attend an initial on-site practical assessment at the RTÉ campus in Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
