OVERVIEW

Installs, repairs and maintains the domestic water, heating, specialty piping, sanitary systems and any related equipment throughout the campus. Able to work from construction drawings, sketches, product information sheets, shop drawings, and verbal or written direction with minimal supervision. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

General Responsibilities:

· Interprets and applies current National Building Codes in making recommendations, relevant changes and or modifications to University buildings or equipment. Capable of checking and understanding other applicable codes relating to residential and commercial applications.

· Working knowledge in general layout of plumbing systems for residential and commercial applications. Installs, repairs, and maintains distribution services for domestic, sanitary and specialized applications, such as laboratories, mechanical equipment, refrigeration, air conditioning, water treatment, etc.

· Installs, repairs, and maintains high and low pressure water, gas, and air, including DWC, PVC, Dur-iron, cast copper, and steel, all manner of pumps, mixers, regulators, etc. Skilled in pipe fitting and plumbing, welding, brazing, etc.

· Capable of working with low-pressure hot water systems, single and double pipe, gravity and forced air heating systems. Installs, repairs, and maintains HVAC systems and related components and equipment.

· Under authority and direction of the Central Heating Plant Chief (where applicable), repairs and maintains various low pressure steam equipment and piping including heat exchangers, PRV’s, steam traps, check valves, control valves, pressure vessels, hot water boilers etc, up to 15 psi. Troubleshoots oil and gas burners, fire eye controls, other safety devices (high and low limit pressure and water controls).

· Performs general mechanical maintenance and repairs on various types of equipment such as kitchen equipment, Arenaquip, compressors, air conditioning equipment, etc.

· Able to read and understand blueprints relating to building construction in order to coordinate work being done by other trades.

· Ability to plan and estimate projects from verbal, drawn, or written communication.

· Operates Utility vehicles and various pieces of equipment as required.

· All assigned Work Orders and PM’s must be completed.

· All Pre-Use Inspections must be completed and up to date.

· Document all work in the CMMS system.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employer.

· At all times, duties are to be performed using approved PPE and safety procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.27 per hour
