Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) is committed to keeping all New Zealanders safe, and Maori communities are a vital part of that mission. We're searching for a passionate leader to join our team as Pou Takawaenga Maori Matua.

Ko tau na i tenei turanga - What you'll bring to the role:

You will:

  • Guide Fire and Emergency's work with Maori (tangata whenua) in your region.
  • Develop culturally appropriate fire safety strategies for Maori communities.
  • Foster and manage strong relationships with iwi, hapu, whanau, and other Maori stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice on incorporating tikanga Maori into fire safety initiatives.

You are a proven leader with:

  • Deep expertise in tikanga Maori and cultural protocols.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Maori communities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Fluency in te reo Maori (or actively seeking fluency).

The salary range for this role is $134,190 to $149,100 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
