At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.
Our vision for He Whānau Manaaki o Tararua is derived from our belief in the importance of quality early childhood education for the children themselves, their whānau, their community and for Aotearoa New Zealand. Therefore, we seek to be a leader in the provision of high-quality early childhood education, and by demonstrating what can be achieved, be seen as advocates for children and whānau and help to improve quality early childhood education throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki’s 108 kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.
Community Description
Clinton is a small rural town located between the larger towns of Balclutha and Gore. Clinton revolves around cattle, sheep and deer farming. Today Clinton is a vibrant township, many young families have joined those more established to work in the regions strong agricultural industry. The newly established kindergarten has joined the Play Centre as an option for the children and their whānau of the Clinton area. Kindergarten will give the families the option of longer days for the care and education of their precious taonga. The location of the kindergarten itself is in the old Bowling Club site where a purpose-built kindergarten is now standing. The new Kindergarten is committed to and will be actively involved in the Big River Kahui Ako building strong links with the local primary school. The kindergarten is also dedicated to connecting to and building strong relationships within the local community services and groups, where we are a part of a network that invests time and energy to ensure that Clinton continues to thrive and be proud of what they have to offer.

- Demonstrates the ability to work with a range of community members from diverse backgrounds and being part of a small tight knit rural community
- Demonstrates high energy levels and a solution-based approach
- Shows initiative and flexibly as well as committed to building consistency within a team
- Demonstrates commitment and skills to work collaboratively and is an open communicator with a sense of humour
- Has experience in working in a mixed aged environment.
