Job Description: Practice Manager for Multiple Group Homes (BHRF for SMI Population)

Position Title: Practice Manager
Reports To: Administrator and Clinical Director
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: West Valley Goodyear, Suprise AZ area
Position Summary:

The Practice Manager is responsible for the effective daily operations, administrative oversight, and coordination of multiple Behavioral Health Residential Facilities (BHRFs) serving the Seriously Mentally Ill (SMI) population. This role includes resident screening, de-escalation management, budgeting, staff hiring and oversight, and ensuring the delivery of high- [Specify Location, e.g., Phoenix Metro Area]quality care in a safe, therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:Resident Screening and Management:

  • Screen and assess potential residents for program eligibility, ensuring alignment with facility capabilities and resources.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to coordinate resident admissions and discharges.
  • Assist staff with de-escalation strategies and crisis intervention to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
  • Work closely with clinical teams to ensure residents' treatment plans are implemented effectively.

Administrative Operations:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple BHRFs, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and manage individualized budgets for each home, monitoring expenses and resource allocation.
  • Track occupancy rates, maintain census data, and prepare financial and operational reports for leadership.

Staff Hiring and Management:

  • Recruit, screen, and hire qualified staff, including Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) and other support roles.
  • Provide leadership, training, and support to staff to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, facilitate professional development, and address performance issues as needed.
  • Develop and manage staffing schedules to ensure proper coverage across all shifts and facilities.

De-escalation and Crisis Management:

  • Provide leadership and guidance during resident or staff crises, utilizing de-escalation techniques to mitigate risks.
  • Train staff in behavioral intervention and safety protocols.
  • Ensure documentation and follow-up for all crisis events to maintain compliance and quality assurance.

Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with ADHS and AHCCCS regulations, including documentation, safety protocols, and medication management.
  • Prepare for and facilitate licensing inspections and audits.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives and address operational inefficiencies proactively.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Act as a liaison between residents, families, clinical teams, and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated care.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide leadership with regular updates on operational performance, staffing, and financial metrics.

Qualifications:Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Behavioral Health, or a related field required; Master’s degree in Counseling or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a management role within a behavioral health, residential care, or psychiatric setting.
  • Experience in budgeting, staff management, and crisis intervention.
  • Psychiatric or mental health background is strongly preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of ADHS and AHCCCS regulations for BHRFs serving SMI populations.
  • Proven skills in budgeting, staff hiring, and managing diverse teams.
  • Expertise in de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Ability to pass an Arizona Adult Protective Services (APS) background check.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced and dynamic environment with frequent travel between facilities.
  • On-call responsibilities to address emergencies or critical incidents.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,004.00 - $64,365.00 per year
