Preschool Literacy Aide

Boys and Girls Club of Winnemucca needs a Part-Time Literacy Aide to work independently and as part of a team on literacy skills with pre-K students at our Early Learning Center!

As a literacy aide, you'll work 20 hours a week (9am to 1pm Monday through Friday) to develop kindergarten readiness skills with our 4 and 5-year-olds. You'll focus on the positive and on child development by:

• planning, preparing, and leading literacy activities,
• giving regular readiness assessments,
• and collaborating on training and family support.

And will ultimately build students oral language, phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, early writing, and vocabulary development.

Pay: $15 per hour

Shift: 9am to 1pm Monday through Friday

Hiring Process:

• Interview scheduled
• Final decision typically made within five to seven business days of application

Qualifications for Literacy Aide:

• Must pass Drug Test (for drugs illegal in the state of Nevada)
• Must Pass Child Care Background Check
• Must provide references
• Must be available Monday through Friday
• Experience working in early childhood highly preferred
• Experience with ASQ-3 and Brigance assessments preferred
• Meet Washoe County and state of Nevada requirements, including trainings outside of your regular shift
• Caring individual who gets to know children by name
• Dedicated to local community
• Helping the team is a priority
• Extended periods of time sitting on the floor

Education:

• High school or GED (Required)

Experience:

• Early Childhood Education: 1 year (Preferred)
• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
