Job Description
The County Clerk is seeking individuals to fill the position of part-time Preservation Assistant. The successful candidate will be trained to perform various duties. Duties include assisting with document preservation by removing records from old boxes/folders/shucks, removing staples and paper clips, scanning records into database, and refiling records in acid free folders. Responsibilities also include, indexing land records, issuing birth and death certificates, issuing and recording marriage licenses and assumed names and answering phones. Will perform other duties as assigned.
Work requires strong knowledge of software applications including MS Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2010 or higher. Must have ability to perform advanced data entry and scanning functions with high accuracy and strong attention to detail. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time. The ability to pass a typing test with a score of 50 word per minute is required. Must clear a background investigation.
Please note that this is a part-time position, working an average of 20 hours per week.
Rate of Pay: $15.00 per hour
Testing Requirements
This position requires that you pass a typing test at the minimum rate specified above.
- If you have taken a typing test with us within the last 6 months that meets or exceeds the requirements above, you do not need to take it again.
- If you have never taken our typing test, have not met the requirements above, or it has been more than 6 months since your last test, you will need to take the test in order for your application to be complete.
Typing tests are administered in the Human Resources Testing room from 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. You do not need an appointment to test, but you will need to bring a government issued photo ID. If you have any questions regarding the testing, please feel free to call 972-548-4606.
