We are looking for a Principal Advisor to join our Online Channels team within Customer Service Delivery Branch, Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery. Customer Service Delivery supports millions of customer interactions each year and works closely with others to ensure customers have the information, and tools they need to act with confidence. Put simply - we make it easy for people to do the right thing.
The Principal Advisor Online Channels is a leadership role responsible for supporting the Director Online Channels in developing a centre of expertise across MBIE. The role works closely with the Director Online Channels in a trusted partnership, taking an active role in supporting the strategic direction and operational running of the team.
The Principal Advisor Online Channels will primarily be responsible for:
- Supporting the development of a centre of expertise for online channel management across MBIE. This includes leading and supporting the development of relevant strategies, policies, frameworks and processes
- Proactively contributing to Online Channels strategic objectives, priorities and business plans, ensuring alignment of activities and key messaging.
- Supporting the Director Online Channels to undertake an integrated approach to the development and maintenance of our channels, ensuring a multi-channel, customer-centred, cross- regulatory system channel approach to our public information programmes.
- Ensuring the effective provision of accurate, objective and timely information, analysis and advice to the Director Online Channels, Online Channels Leadership Team, Customer Service Delivery Leadership Team and MBIE senior leadership in order to support their strategic planning and decision-making. Working in partnership across the Online Channels Leadership team and the branch, to define, develop and implement processes to measure effectiveness and impact of interventions, channels, products and services on customer behaviour.

We are keen to hear from you if you have:
- A significant and proven track record as part of a leadership team delivering large work programmes, taking into account both strategic and operational needs.
- Ability to think strategically and analytically and translate ideas and concepts into concrete actions.
- Demonstratable success in building professional relationships with senior leaders, internal and external business partners, colleagues, delivery partners and stakeholders.
- Significant experience in navigating systems and overcoming roadblocks, putting the business partner experience at the heart of service design.
- A deep and current understanding in developing customer-centred strategies, frameworks and policies.
- Proven experience in delivering and developing customer value by putting customer needs at the centre of your work.
- Extensive experience in working collaboratively and diplomatically as part of a wider leadership team where functions must work together to achieve group/branch and team priorities.
- Exceptional proven judgement, integrity and discretion, with experience problem solving, managing and mitigating risk.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the machinery of government as well as wider governmental processes and protocols.
- A people-centred mindset and approach to leading and operating as part of a wider leadership team.
- Degree level qualification in relevant subject, or similar, is desirable. Practical and demonstrable experience in this area is required.
