Principal Data Sciences Product Leader - Data Management & Governance

We are currently recruiting for the position of a Principal Data Sciences Produce Leader, Data Management and Governance to join our data team ensuring master, reference and transactional data is fit for purpose for consumers across Roche. You will lead discussions with business stakeholders on the optimum use of data to support operational, analytics and business intelligence initiatives. Working in partnership with other Roche data management colleagues and informatics partners, you will help business functions maximise the value they extract from operational and study master data.

You will work closely with data stewards, data owners, process owners, system owners and data management teams to embed robust data governance practices, ensure that the necessary responsibilities, and data standards are in place to achieve high quality, accessible, standardised and protected data.


The Opportunity:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the development of sustainable and pragmatic data centric solutions to help business and informatics colleagues create, manage and consume data more effectively.

  • Develop Roche data domains and associated data architecture.

  • Develop robust and industry aligned metadata definitions for our growing data sets, ensuring quality rules are in place from the outset.

  • Embed accountabilities for Roche data, and supporting owners, stewards and custodians to ensure that data governance structures operate effectively.

  • Support colleagues adopt FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) to guide the development of our data, helping to maximise the value that can be gained by the business.

  • Identify and share opportunities to re-use existing data between teams across Roche.

  • Engage with stakeholders across Pharma Development, including senior leaders and subject matter experts, to monitor data quality, highlighting issues and leading teams to formulate appropriate solutions.

  • Perform root cause analyses of high priority problems, formulating solutions and initiating actions to remediate

  • Lead assessments of industry leading tools and providing guidance to the business to gain insights and better value from existing data.

  • Educate and publicise data governance concepts and policies through presentations, intranet sites and other internal communications channels.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor degree or higher or equivalent education in scientific or relevant technical discipline.

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a data office, data governance or data management role.

  • Strong knowledge of data management and data governance principles.

  • Experience of data quality definition, monitoring and remediation.

  • Experience establishing and data management and data governance frameworks (eg DAMA Body of Knowledge), and data stewardship initiatives.

  • Experience implementing data governance tools, data dictionaries, data catalogues (eg Collibra).

  • Knowledge of Information Management, Data Modelling, Data Analytics and Reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and an understanding of the end-to-end drug development lifecycle.

  • Demonstrates experience or is adaptable to utilizing and/or models modern ways of working consistent with an agile mindset, behaviors, and methodologies.

  • Good change management skills.

  • Conceptual and strategic thinker.

  • Knowledge of GMP, GCP, international regulations, guidelines and their application, and all other applicable compliance standards is a plus.

Relocation benefits are available for this posting

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $142,400 - $264,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
