Principal Intelligence Officer

This pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading

Our client is seeking an experienced Principal Intelligence Officer to join a team working to establish an intelligence capability for biosecurity activities within their organisation. As the Principal Intelligence Officer, you will work alongside a Data Analyst to utilise existing data collection mechanisms and recommend further data collection mechanisms to support intelligence gathering and enable the business to identify opportunities to improve industry and community compliance.

What you will do:

  • Use various tools to gather, analyse, and interpret complex data related to biosecurity regulation and compliance to identify needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various Queensland Government organisations to share intelligence and coordinate efforts.
  • Assist in the development of a centralised intelligence capability. Oversee the entire intelligence cycle (direction, collection, analysis, and dissemination) of intelligence to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with leadership teams to provide strategic guidance based on intelligence findings to support decision-making processes and long-term planning.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing intelligence findings, trends, and recommendations. Present these reports to senior management and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all intelligence activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of intelligence tools and methodologies and implement improvements as necessary to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of intelligence operations.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Experience in uplifting intelligence capabilities and processes to support an insights-driven culture that incorporates Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
  • Ability to work with a team to develop intelligence projects, including project ideation and design.
  • Ability to prepare project documentation, including project plans, requirements specifications and testing plans.
  • Experience in training, coaching, and mentoring for officers in the use of intelligence, data and analytics to contribute to the continuous improvement culture of the organisation.
