What you will be doing.
As our Principal Maritime Consultant, you will manage all aspects of ABL Maritime Services, delivering key surveys for the Maritime and Marine Insurance markets while ensuring your own chargeable time. You may also support Marine Warranty (loadouts, transportation / towage approvals) and consultancy needs for ABL Energy in EWA. In addition, you:
- Should be familiar with all aspects of ABL business lines and key deliverables.
- Assist in planning of marketing ABL services to the Scandinavian H&M and P&I Underwriters and Brokers.
- Coordinate marketing with vessel Owners & Operators of offshore service vessels and barges.
- Cross-sell ABL service lines to the other maritime sectors – ie: Shipyards, Ports & Harbours.
- Provide monthly planning & activity reports on project developments.
- Maintain own level of billable utilisation to appropriate level
- Retain and develop existing and potential client base with ABL.
- Assist with developing business strategy, its marketing and implementation.
- Assist with developing budgets, pricing and quotations for business line.
- Assist with general technical management and development.
- Assist with general quality assurance and report reviews.
- Assist with general case handling and maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for.
You will possess strong expertise in marine surveying, client relationship management, and business development. Additionally, you will demonstrate excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain billable utilization effectively. In addition, you possess:
- Typically, at least 5 years of shoreside and / or business experience at a similar level.
- 10+ years at sea. Sailed in senior rank.
- Strong decision-making, technical, and analytical skills with a focus on operations.
- Accurate reporting and the ability to deliver high-quality work on time.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and multitasking skills.
- Proactive, well-organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- High-level reputation in the market.
- Sailed as Master or Chief Engineer.
- Previous experience in Maritime Consultancy or associated field (e.g., salvage, harbour master etc.)
- Extensive client base.
- Ongoing book of work.
