The Principal Operations Specialist (Business Process Automation) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to end users by leveraging advanced technologies, such as ServiceNow, to automate processes, streamline workflows, and drive operational excellence. This role is critical in enhancing efficiency and compliance, particularly in the areas of Identity and Access Management (IAAM) and Qualified Access Requests (QAR) within highly regulated GxP environments.

As a Principal Operations Specialist , a typical day might include the following:

  • Design, develop, and implement end-to-end automated workflows using ServiceNow and Process X, focusing on improving operational efficiency, reducing manual effort, and enhancing service delivery.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for process automation in IAAM, QAR, and other critical business processes, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory standards.
  • Continuously optimize ServiceNow configurations to support scalable, efficient, and compliant workflows, while adhering to industry best practices.
  • Maintain high-performing operational processes, ensuring service availability, reliability, and efficiency, benchmarked against industry standards.
  • Monitor, control, and support service delivery by implementing systems, methodologies, and procedures that ensure consistent and high-quality operations.
  • Ensure that all automated workflows and processes comply with GxP standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements, mitigating risks and ensuring audit readiness.
  • Take ownership of major incidents related to automated processes, coordinating resolution efforts, communicating effectively with stakeholders, and conducting post incident reviews to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain Service Improvement Plans, ensuring timely completion of actions to enhance service quality and operational outcomes. - Utilize data analytics to monitor the performance of automated processes, track their impact, and recommend further enhancements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing actionable insights, recommendations, and expertise on process automation and operational improvements.

This role may be for you if you have:

  • Extensive experience in configuring, managing, and optimizing ServiceNow workflows, including custom development and integration with other tools.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and manage automation solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and improve compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience working in GxP environments, with a strong focus on IAAM and QAR processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. Expertise in root cause analysis, problem determination, and resolution, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Deep knowledge of ITIL disciplines, including Incident Management, Reporting, and Monitoring.
  • Familiarity with GAMP 5 operational controls and Data Integrity tools to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

In order to be considered for this position, you must hold a BS/BA in Information Technology or related field and

  • Senior: 5 years of experience delivering IT/OT services to business or consumers
  • Principal: 8 years of experience delivering IT/OT services to business or consumers
  • May consider equivalent combination of education and experience. Level is determined based on qualifications relevant to the role.
  • Strong GxP experience and proven experience in highly regulated environments required
  • Service Management or support in a large-scale and diverse environment of incident management, escalation procedures and related disciplines
  • Experience with delivering projects and initiatives in the IT or OT space.
  • Deep experience with ITIL disciplines
  • Experience with operating systems (Microsoft Windows & Linux), VMware.
  • Experience with monitoring and security tools such as Splunk, Claroty and next Gen OT tools.
