The Principal Trade Compliance Analyst provides advanced expertise for Trade Compliance export and/or import activities in reaching the business or regional objectives. May perform many of the same tasks as Trade Compliance Managers but does not manage or supervise staff. This position trains specialists and/or analysts and performs compliance tasks and implements Trade Compliance Processes. The position ensures that global trade transactions are undertaken in compliance with import/export laws, regulations, and controls administered by the government agency as appropriate to the business location.
Job Description
- Provides advanced expertise for Trade Compliance export and import activities, acting as a trainer/mentor of Trade Compliance Analysts and Specialists.
- Acts as a lead in the classification of products for export and may be involved in applying for export licensing.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, and releasing export compliance-related holds on shipments after all Trade Compliance requirements are satisfied.
- Maintains working knowledge of all applicable export/import regulation, providing updates to management regarding current and pending compliance regulation initiatives and legislation that may affect company business, ensuring various registrations with government agencies are kept up to date as required by regulations.
- Supports Customer Service, Supply Chain, Engineering and other business functions with Trade Compliance issues, such as Export License Determination and End User documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree + 5 years OR 7-9 years Trade Compliance experience
- Depending on the role, a Licensed Customs Broker may be preferred but not required.
- Understanding of trade compliance regulations of the country/region in which the position is based, e.g. Japan’s National Trade Regulations, European (i.e. EU, UK, etc.) Dual-Use Regulations, U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Foreign Assets Control Regulations (FACR), U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations.

- Ability to direct resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems while applying advanced analytical thought and judgment
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Good Presentation skills
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
- Strong prioritization skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Teams, web-browsers, and database management tools
