About the Client

Our client is a private equity firm focused on lower-middle market software and services companies. The firm has an industry-leading track record of growing founder-owned businesses, enabled by deep sales & marketing expertise, operational best practices, and capital to fund strategic initiatives. We take a long-term view of ownership and create value by partnering actively with the management teams we back.

Job Description

Our client is hiring an Associate to work across the two halves of what makes a private equity firm compound: finding the next deal, and making the ones we already own better. On the front end, you will help build the firm’s proprietary pipeline — mapping markets and getting in front of founders before a banker does. On the back end, you will sit alongside the C-suite of our portfolio companies, helping them plan, forecast, report and execute.

Few roles at this level offer both. You will follow a business from first outreach through diligence, ownership and value creation — and carry real, visible responsibility from month one.

Role & Responsibilities

1. Deal Origination & Business Development

  • Map sub-sectors of the software and tech-enabled services landscape and develop investable theses on where the firm should be hunting.
  • Build and run proprietary outreach campaigns to founders and owner-operators, and own the follow-up that turns a first conversation into a live opportunity.
  • Cultivate relationships with intermediaries — sell-side bankers, brokers and advisors — and keep the firm front of mind for processes that fit our criteria.
  • Screen inbound and sourced opportunities against the firm’s investment criteria; build quick-turn financial snapshots and recommend which deserve real time.
  • Drive add-on acquisitions: source targets for portfolio companies, support diligence, and help integrate what we buy.
  • Own pipeline hygiene and data integrity in Salesforce.
  • Support live deals end to end — market work, financial analysis, valuation, models and IC memos.

2. Portfolio Strategy, Reporting & Tracking

  • Partner with portfolio company leadership on annual planning, budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial plans.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packs, board materials and quarterly business reviews.
  • Build and maintain operating models, scenario analyses and KPI dashboards; track performance against plan and surface issues before they become surprises.
  • Analyse SaaS and services metrics — ARR, net and gross retention, CAC payback, utilisation, gross margin by delivery line — and translate them into recommendations.

Experience & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or a comparable transaction or strategy seat. Sponsor coverage, technology/software banking, or lower-middle market PE is ideal.
  • Financial modelling — three-statement, LBO, DCF, cohort and unit economics. You should be able to build a model from a blank sheet.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and incomplete data. Ability to form a view, show your reasoning, and update it when the facts change.
  • Strong communication. Ability to effectively communicate with high-level stakeholders.
  • Presence with senior operators. Sourcing and portfolio work are both relationship businesses — you should be able to hold your own with founders, CEOs and CFOs.
  • An ownership instinct. Ability to take ownership and deliver positive outcomes.

Viewed Favourably

  • Exposure to software and services businesses.
  • MBA or CFA — preferred, not required.
  • Hands-on with sourcing and data tooling: Salesforce, SourceScrub, Grata, PitchBook, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of BI and reporting tools (Power BI, Domo, Tableau) and the instinct to automate recurring reporting rather than rebuild it monthly.
  • Interest in applying AI tooling to research, diligence and reporting workflows.

Why This Role

  • Breadth you will not get elsewhere. Pure deal teams do not touch the portfolio; pure ops teams never see a deal. Here you do both.
  • Direct access. You will work with the firm’s partners and portfolio company C-suites — not three layers below them.
  • Real ownership, early. This is a lean team. Your work reaches the investment committee and portfolio boards with your name on it.
  • A clear path. Strong performers grow into Senior Associate and VP-level responsibility, with increasing ownership of theses, relationships and portfolio accounts.

Pay: ₹1,500,000.00 - ₹2,500,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule

Work Location: In person
