Role impact & contribution

The Procurement Advisor is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of contemporary sourcing strategies for the ICT, Construction/Facilities, and Goods and Services categories aligned with the procurement lifecycle, through collaboratively working with key Government and industry stakeholders, to ensure the achievement of NSW Government procurement objectives. The role mitigates risk, promotes and maintains fairness and probity in the intake of Suppliers to Government arrangements.

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Engage proactively with stakeholders to develop procurement plans with defined scope, timelines, and responsibilities.
  • Organize and manage sourcing activities, including facilitating negotiations, preparing tender and contract documents, and recommending suppliers that offer best value for money.
  • Identify cost savings and efficiency improvements across ICT, Facilities, and Goods & Services categories using both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Support and advise category management teams in implementing industry engagement strategies to enhance outcomes and encourage innovation.
  • Apply analytical tools and systems to interpret supplier and organizational data, providing insights to support procurement planning and decisions.
  • Participate in cross-functional category team projects and collaborate with government and industry stakeholders to enhance category planning and commitment.
  • Assist the Procurement Governance Manager with governance activities and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance standards to support NSW Government procurement objectives.
  • Document procurement processes, decisions, and contractual arrangements to ensure auditability and reporting transparency

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for ongoing employment at NSW Treasury, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
