Your Opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the portfolio Manager, the Procurement Specialist II performs complex purchasing functions consistent with established AHS procurement policies, practices, laws, and trade agreements. The Procurement Specialist II is responsible for the acquisition of supplies, minor equipment, services or supporting functions within assigned work groups. The Procurement Specialist II performs the acquisition process primarily for purchases of a transactional nature which includes researching/collating information, preparation of requests for quotations, review of quotations, creation of purchase agreements, issuance of purchase orders, material expediting and invoice discrepancy resolution. Under the direction of the Manager, the Procurement Specialist II coordinates and monitors assigned team purchasing activities; acts as a source of knowledge by answering questions, providing technical advice, and assisting in the training of staff.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of a 4 year post-secondary education with focus on Supply Chain Management. Minimum of 5 years procurement experience required in a large distribution organization or Healthcare or Public provider. Advanced understanding of purchasing fundamentals, including Logistics, Supply Chain Management , Supplier Relationship Management and Customer Relationship Management. Advanced understanding of contract language and legal terminology. Proficiency with MS office. Must be proficient in the use of spreadsheets for cost benefit analysis and quantitative evaluation of options. Keyboarding skills with minimum of 30 wpm. Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with staff, management, and vendors. Ability to produce a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy. Effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize and strong attention to detail. Oracle or other ERP system experience. Client focused and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Demonstrates strong team leadership skills and willing to take lead as new challenges arise. Demonstrates a high standard of work ethic in previous position with minimal errors. Must be a self-starter, work with confidential information, demonstrate initiative and be able to action assigned tasks. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment which may include patient critical requests. A mandatory knowledge and skills test will be administered to selected candidates.
Preferred Qualifications:
Combination of education and experience may be considered. Professional Membership(s): Relevant designations pertaining supply chain management preferred.
