This role requires full time on site presence.
Your role
CBC Newfoundland and Labrador is looking for an evening producer to join our news team based in St John’s.
We are seeking a natural born leader and consummate team player with superb journalistic and presentation skills.
Reporting to the Executive Producer, you will produce and prepare content for various platforms in the evening and the following day. Included in your day will be the presentation of three daily newscasts.

As the evening producer you will be responsible for proposing original story ideas, chasing breaking news, interviewing newsmakers, researching, preparing and vetting scripts for both radio and digital platforms.

You will also prepare and present afternoon newscasts as part of your role.

Please note this is a full time on-site position, Monday through Friday evening shift, starting at 12:15pm.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • An experienced news person who can deliver exceptional newscasts daily.
  • Exceptional editorial judgment and initiative.
  • A passion for telling stories, with the ability to prepare ahead for all platforms.
  • Superior writing, editorial and presentation skills.
  • Strong copy editing (vetting) skills for all platforms.
  • Familiar with digital video treads, including web video, social and FAST channels
  • An ability to choose relevant, audience focused stories, with a focus on a younger diverse audience.
  • Quick to react and respond to breaking stories.
  • Interest and knowledge of events and issues in the community.
  • An innovator and risk taker.
  • University degree or equivalent with five years' experience of which three must involve work in broadcasting or a closely related industry, which is directly related to the area of assignment.
