Producer, Morning Report

Te Mahi – About the job

Morning Report is looking for a journalist to work as a producer and reporter, creating a vibrant, live experience on air and online for our audiences.


Working with the industry’s top talent and covering the highest profile stories in NZ and overseas, you will be committed to the highest standards of journalism and have a thorough understanding of national and international news.


Responsibilities of the role include:


  • Keep up to date with both national and international news stories
  • Work with the show’s dedicated production team, the newsroom, digital and others across RNZ on editorial components for on-air and online, including initiating, selecting, and developing story ideas.
  • Work closely with the Morning Report presenter providing notes/background information/research as required.
  • Edit pre-recorded interviews, identify relevant video and audio cuts, including re-editing interviews when required.
  • Appear on-air as required.
  • Maintain a diverse and relevant list of contacts.

Ōu Pūkenga - About You

Working as part of a team in a high energy programming environment, you’ll need:

  • Daily news experience
  • Knowledge of national and international news and current affairs
  • Experience in live production
  • The ability to appear on-air
  • Pacific pronunciation skills
