KONE Technology and Innovation (KTI) is where the magic happens at KONE. It's where we combine the physical world – escalators and elevators – with smart and connected digital systems. We are changing and improving the way billions of people move within buildings every day. We are on a mission to expand and develop new digital solutions that are based on emerging technologies.
We are now looking for a
Product Designer, MES to join our team!
As a Product Designer, you will be critical in designing and evolving KONE's Manufacturing Execution System (MES) IT products, ensuring they align with user needs and deliver the desired value. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including stakeholders from Manufacturing CoE, factories, and KONE IT, to create designs that meet functional and non-functional requirements while adhering to cybersecurity and compliance standards.
You will also contribute to the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of MES IT products, helping to ensure they evolve according to the product vision and roadmap.
This position may be based in Espoo or Hyvinkää in Finland and you will report to the Product Manager, Manufacturing, Safety and Quality.
Key responsibilities:
- Understanding user needs: Collaborate with the MES Product Owner, process owners, and target users to clarify changes and translate requirements into functional designs and acceptance criteria.
- Product design and implementation: Design fit-for-purpose solutions, refine backlog items and work with team members to ensure alignment and successful delivery. Incorporate feedback through demos and validation activities.
- Compliance and documentation: Ensure designs meet cybersecurity and architectural standards while maintaining up-to-date documentation.
- Product operations and support: Provide expertise during critical incidents and deliver training sessions and best practices to stakeholders.
- Planning and prioritization: Support backlog prioritization, update product roadmaps, and actively contribute to agile practices.
What success looks like:
- Delivering IT designs that satisfy stakeholders and users.
- Ensuring compliance with KONE's IT strategy, cybersecurity, and product roadmaps.
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement in product development.
What we are looking for:
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, including factory production and warehouse operations. It would be an advantage if you have practical, hands-on experience working in a factory environment.
- Experience designing or developing IT systems in the MES, WMS, or ERP domains (e.g., DELMIA Apriso MES) with technical expertise in MES systems, particularly Apriso MES
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management, design thinking, and change management.
- Familiarity with agile and lean ways of working.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in a global environment.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in IT product design or development, preferably in MES or a related area.
- A relevant degree (e.g., B.Sc., M.Sc.) in a technical field.
