The New Product Development Manager will lead the efforts in developing and introducing new products to the market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering and will have experience offering creative solutions to product development, with a proven track record of bringing innovative solutions from concept to commercialization. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify market trends, assess customer needs, and drive the development of new products that differentiate our client in the marketplace.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead the overall new product development process from concept to launch, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.

2. Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.

3. Collaborate with sales, marketing, engineering, and manufacturing teams to define product requirements and specifications.

4. Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for new product initiatives, and manage project execution to meet established goals.

5. Drive innovation within the organization by fostering a culture of creativity, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

6. Evaluate new technologies, materials, and processes to enhance product performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

7. Work closely with engineering teams to oversee product design, prototyping, testing, and validation activities.

8. Conduct regular reviews and updates on project status, milestones, and key performance indicators

Time Line Objectives:

90 Days

  • Market research pertaining to the commercial AHU market as a whole, but also within the various vertical markets (higher ed, health care, pharma, etc.)
  • Panel comparison and competitive analysis of the industry
  • Preliminary concepts for new design along with budgets (CapX and OpX) in conjunction with bullet point savings and improvements (i.e. executive summary)
  • Software development plan, including head count, and budgets

120 Days

•Choose new panel design and commence production development

•Market plan on which sectors we will pursue first, with a phasing plan

  • DHU concepts
  • CRAH Concept
  • Food and Beverage Concept

180 Days

  • Software development team on board and starting backend and UI development
  • Fully developed cost model to pursue launch
  • Revised process plans for new construction (i.e. manufacturing process improvements)
  • Phase plan and timeline, for what will be included at launch, and what will be future product innovations
  • Developed plan for additional products (DHU, CRAH, F&B)

12 Months

  • Complete book of details for internal (manufacturing & engineering) and external (sales) use (new panel construction)
  • Final design concept for additional products as previously directed

18 Months

  • Beta testing and initial roll out of new estimating and selection software

Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field; advanced degree a plus but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in new product development, application engineering, innovation management, or product engineering.
  • Proven track record of successfully specifying products or launching new products from concept to commercialization.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for driving innovation.
  • Experience working in the HVAC or modular building construction industry is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of design software, CAD tools, and product lifecycle management systems.

•Ability to travel as needed to meet with customers, attend industry events, and visit manufacturing facilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
