Job Description
The Product Owner manages the product backlog, aligning priorities with global strategies to drive business outcomes. This role focuses on shaping personalized user experiences through recommendation systems, working closely with the Product Management Office (PMO) and technical teams to ensure value delivery. While not deeply technical, a strong understanding of data-driven processes and recommendation mechanisms is essential.
Responsibilities
- Backlog Management: Maintain a clean, prioritized backlog aligned with business goals, resources, and dependencies. Communicate decisions effectively to stakeholders and development teams, ensuring transparency and readiness for development.
- Recommendation Strategy: Define and execute strategies leveraging user behavior data (e.g., watch-time, conversions) to improve recommendations. Monitor and optimize key metrics like click-through rates, churn, and engagement, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Roadmap Planning & Execution: Develop and maintain a clear product roadmap, tying initiatives to strategic goals. Coordinate releases, ensuring timely delivery of features and alignment with business priorities.
- Collaboration & Data Integration: Partner with Analytics, UX, and Development teams to integrate data insights into actionable product enhancements. Facilitate A/B testing, user feedback analysis, and iteration planning to improve the recommendation engine.
- Market Awareness & Optimization: Monitor industry trends and competitor offerings to identify feature gaps and propose improvements. Ensure recommendation systems stay competitive and relevant.
- Product Health: Oversee product performance, address bugs, and allocate sprint capacity for maintenance and improvements. Validate features in production to ensure they meet user expectations and acceptance criteria.
Qualifications
- Product Management Experience: Previous experience in a similar product management role, ideally involving personalization, recommendation engines, or data-driven features.
- Foundational Technical Knowledge: Understanding of software development, web technologies, and how data pipelines feed into recommendation systems - no coding skills needed, but must be able to liaise effectively with technical teams.
- Agile Process & Principles: Proven track record of working in Agile environments, facilitating backlogs, sprints, and iterative product enhancements - particularly relevant for continuous optimization of recommendation logic.
- Data & Analytics Mindset: Sharp analytical skills; ability to translate data insights into actionable roadmap items.
- Strong Communication & Negotiation: Ability to present ideas persuasively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring buy-in for recommendation-focused initiatives.
- Market & Industry Insight: In-depth understanding of industry market conditions and trends, with a particular focus on user personalization and competitor approaches in recommendation systems.
- User-Centric Focus: Passion for leveraging technology to enhance consumer experiences, especially through personalized content and performer recommendations.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Capacity to identify gaps in recommendation performance, propose solutions, and collaborate with Data/Engineering teams to refine algorithms and features.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring thorough requirement gathering and acceptance criteria, especially when optimizing highly dynamic recommendation scenarios.
- Organizational Skills: Capable of juggling multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously, maintaining a clear and prioritized backlog, and coordinating iterative improvements to the recommendation engine.
