Production Buyer

Targeted start date: Immediately. Relocation provided.

Since its founding in 2015, 1X has been at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids.

We strive for excellence in all we do, solving some of the hardest problems in robotics with the world’s most talented individuals. Every part of our robots is designed and produced in-house—from motor coils to AI—reflecting our vertically integrated approach. At 1X, you’ll own real projects, be recognized for your achievements, and rewarded based on merit.

We believe the best work is done when collaborating and therefore require in-person presence in our office locations.

As we scale from research and development to full-scale manufacturing, we are looking for a Production Buyer to manage purchasing and material planning for our global supply chain. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a seamless supply of components and materials for production while working closely with Global Supply Managers, Demand Planning, and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams.

The Production Buyer will report directly to the Global Supply Chain Director and be responsible for executing procurement strategies, ensuring supplier commitments, and optimizing inventory levels to support production schedules and NPI release cycles.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Supplier Coordination

  • Execute purchase orders based on demand planning forecasts and production schedules.
  • Work closely with Global Supply Managers to align procurement activities with strategic sourcing plans and supplier agreements.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of components by proactively managing supplier relationships and lead times.
  • Identify and escalate potential supply constraints that could impact production timelines.

Demand Planning & Inventory Management

  • Collaborate with demand planning teams to ensure accurate purchasing decisions based on forecasted demand and production needs.
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
  • Support supply chain risk mitigation efforts, including alternate sourcing and safety stock strategies.

New Product Introduction (NPI) & Engineering Support

  • Partner with NPI teams to source materials for new product builds, prototypes, and pre-production runs.
  • Ensure timely procurement of new components to meet NPI launch schedules.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to qualify suppliers and support cost-effective production ramp-up.

Supplier & Purchase Order Management

  • Maintain accurate purchase order records, ensuring compliance with contract terms and pricing.
  • Track and expedite critical orders to meet production deadlines.
  • Work with logistics teams to coordinate shipments and resolve delivery issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, production planning, or supply chain management in a manufacturing, robotics, or technology environment.
  • Experience working with global suppliers and managing procurement in a high-tech, fast-paced industry.
  • Strong knowledge of demand planning, inventory control, and supplier management.
  • Familiarity with NPI processes, including prototype and pre-production procurement.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and supply chain management tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with global supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for supplier interactions.
