What’s the job?
We are currently looking for a Production Chargehand (Assistant Supervisor) to work in production and lead a team of Production Operators. This position is a full time, permanent position on a 3-cycle shift pattern. Reporting to the Operations Lead, duties of the Charge Hand will include:
Role responsibilities:
- Create a culture of safety first by supervising adherence to safety procedures.
- Plan and communicate the daily production workload in conjunction with the Operations Lead, delegating duties to relevant people.
- Ensure all production related information is maintained in the ERP system.
- Troubleshoot on blow moulding and injection moulding machine processes as required.
- Motivate, encourage and give feedback to the team and resolve any concerns /roadblocks to achieving targets.
- Develop team skills to ensure operators are trained appropriately.
- Liaise with engineers and other departments to ensure smooth running of production, resolve issues and reduce downtime.
- Ensure housekeeping is maintained to the highest standard.
- Feedback and report production and machine metrics and relevant issues to the Operations Lead
- Assume responsibility for overall management of the shift in absence of Operations Lead.
- Other duties as may be required by supervisor from time to time.
To be successful in this role:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing/production environment
- Ideally previous experience managing a team of operators
- Strong organisation skills, and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Be able to work on own initiative
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly and take on a wide range of responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to brief/debrief a team
- Ability to foster good working relationships within and across teams
