Production Manager

Position details:

  • This position is located at SEED’s facility in Aldersyde, AB, about 15-20 minutes south of Calgary.
  • Enjoy 3-day weekends and a consistent schedule! 10-hour days (Monday to Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm)

Position overview:

The Production Manager will ensure the efficient and effective operation of SEED Homes’ manufacturing facility. This disciplined and results-driven leader will set the pace, goals, and objectives. Oversight of the production process will include maintaining quality and safety standards, while ensuring timely completion of production schedules based on timelines and revenue streams, optimizing resource use, and managing costs. This role will improve the production values, align production and revenue, and reduce rework and lost time due to quality issues and mistakes through training, planning, efficiencies, and planned human capital increases.

What you'll do:

  • Understand and enforce “on-time/on-budget” practices, demonstrating a sense of urgency and efficiency
  • Maintain a strong, unwavering commitment to maintaining strict production schedules, quality standards, and continuously improving processes
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet project team demands and business goals
  • Develop and manage the production budget, ensuring cost-effective operations
  • Monitor production costs and implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste
  • Forecast and allocate resources efficiently to align with production schedules, including labour, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency and productivity
  • Enforce strict adherence to quality control procedures, addressing non-conformities promptly and implementing corrective actions
  • Implement and lead the QA/QC program to reduce cost overruns or missed deadlines and increase client confidence
  • Quickly identify and resolve production issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation
  • Lead, train, and motivate the production team, clearly communicating performance expectations and holding team members accountable to achieve performance targets
  • Have a finger on the pulse of SEED Homes’ production and a clear view into the future based on strong communication with sales, project management, and leadership
  • Coordinate with project management and supply chain team members to align production with market needs and inventory levels
  • Ensure the availability of raw materials and components required for production
  • Develop strategy to achieve Global Sustainability targets within the facility
  • Exemplify a positive/inclusive team environment, including efforts to establish and maintain high levels of employee involvement and communication

What you'll bring (technical):

  • At least 3 years of production management experience in the steel manufacturing industry are required
  • Experience in home building and/or construction preferred
  • Well-defined leadership skills with the ability to inspire and influence others towards achieving common goals, instilling confidence, enthusiasm, and a sense of purpose in the team
  • Ability to build a cohesive and high-performing team, fostering collaboration, trust, and mutual respect among team members
  • Strong tracking, analytical, and reporting skills
  • Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and technical drawings
  • Skill and experience in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics for calculating material needs, costs, and measurements
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of assembly process
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and other related machinery
  • Understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and

industry standards

  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with all stakeholders
  • Manual dexterity with the ability to work with hands efficiently and precisely
  • Physical stamina with the capability of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy materials, standing for long periods, bending, kneeling, etc.
  • Ability to work meticulously and pay close attention to detail to achieve high-quality work and ensure client satisfaction
  • Refined problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities to identify and address obstacles and challenges that may arise, proactively seeking solutions and implementing strategies to overcome them
  • Organized with the propensity to thrive in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating timelines
  • Effective time management techniques with keen attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and prioritize tasks and actions needed
  • Flexibility and a proactive attitude to support various needs in a dynamic and expanding business environment
  • A high level of self-discipline, motivation, and integrity along with the propensity to take initiative and work independently
  • Team orientation with a sense of humour and positivity
  • Must be articulate and presentable
