An eligibility list may be established to fill future Regular, Term or Acting positions for both the AZ2 and AZ1 classifications and will remain in effect for 12 months.
Candidates who do not meet all essential criteria may be considered on an underfill basis at the AZ1 classification. The salary range for AZ1 is $88,438 - $115,181 per year.

The Internal Audit and Compliance Branch (IAC), in the Office of the Provincial Comptroller is an integral component of Manitoba's governance processes and aligns with and supports the Treasury Board Audit Committee in the effective discharge of its corporate governance responsibilities. IAC provides independent and objective assurance and advisory services to Manitoba that contribute to achieving the corporate goals of strong governance, risk management and control processes throughout whole of government. The scope of IAC services extends across the Government of Manitoba, which includes Special Operating Agencies and Reporting Organizations.
Duties:
Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, the Professional Auditor is responsible for planning, leading and conducting comprehensive audits, and data analytics in support of audit reviews and financial investigations conducted by the Division, building expertise in an assigned portfolio while supporting the work of all Division portfolios. This position trains and coaches Governance, Risk and Control Analysts and assists the Director, Internal Audit in ensuring delivery of quality client services for assigned portfolios/Departmental Ministry clusters. Qualifications:
Essential:
- Must possess one of the following: a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (CPA, CPA-CA, CPA-CGA, or CPA-CMA) in good standing; a master’s degree in accounting, business administration, or economics; an equivalent accounting designation obtained in another jurisdiction; or a recognized professional designation in a related specialty area (e.g., CIA, CISA, CFE).
- Significant diverse and progressively responsible senior level audit experience, including performing comprehensive internal audits, reviews and developing risk based audit plans and programs.
- Extensive experience applying advanced Canadian professional auditing standards, control concepts, accounting principles and practices, and internal auditing standards.
- Experience leading a team for results with the ability to coach, motivate, and facilitate positive change
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work within undefined structures and to develop frameworks, including conceptualizing and solving unique and complex situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop respectful and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to quickly assimilate information, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities to successfully operate within a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent written communication skills
Desired:
- Extensive knowledge of various government organizations, management practices, systems and processes and the application of these in diverse operating environments
- Proficiency in data extraction, complex qualitative/quantitative financial and organizational research, analysis, and visualization
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Must be able to travel occasionally within the Province of Manitoba
- Must have the ability to work evenings and weekends as required
- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 license
