Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The purpose of the Program Consultant is to provide overall leadership and supervision for a treatment program consisting of psychiatric patients in need of ongoing treatment for acute, severe & persistent mental illness. This involves all aspects of treatment from admission assessments through discharge planning and follow-up. This incumbent will be responsible for overseeing systems that support individualized care and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. You will provide direct oversight of MHDDT's on the patient units, ensuring consistency in care delivery and addressing any discrepancies in performance with the Program Coordinator.

The essential functions of this position require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Must be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.

Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary: This role provides oversight of Mental Health Technicians (MHDDT) under the direction of the Program Coordinator. The incumbent ensures hospital policies and procedures are being followed. This role will delegate duties among MHDDTs and assist with environmental rounds, ensuring patient needs are being met.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

• Maintain galley, snack ordering, and patient kitchen
• Assists with covering the floor when needed
• Completes staff training for new hires and provides feedback
• Oversees the work of MHDDT’s
• Perform basic tasks to enable assessment of patient's condition
• Participate in patient activities
• Responsible for implementing the admission process
• Demonstrate knowledge of handling crisis/emergency situations
• Document information in the Medical Record (Patient Care System)

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring activities relevant to the agency's programs.
