Salary/Exempt

Full Time: Monday to Friday: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

SHIELDS’ mission is to develop, deliver and evaluate culturally sensitive, comprehensive service models that empower and advocate for high-risk families in South Los Angeles.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Program Coordinator to oversee daily program operations, including clinical and administrative supervision, fiscal management, and contract compliance. This role involves supporting staff development, maintaining collaborative community partnerships, and ensuring high-quality mental health and substance use disorder services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and clinical oversight of program staff, including weekly documentation review and feedback.

  • Ensure clinicians meet licensing requirements (ASW, MFTI, LCSW, LMFT, APCC).

  • Collaborate with Clinical Coordinators on assessments, treatment plans, QA/QI reviews, and high-risk case management.

  • Develop systems to track referrals, assessments, and documentation deadlines.

  • Review child abuse reports prior to submission and assist with client hospitalizations or 5150 holds.

  • Plan and participate in staff training and professional development.

  • Network with community agencies to share resources and maintain referral sources.

  • Ensure compliance with Agency policies, contracts, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards.

  • Participate in meetings, reporting, and ongoing communication with SHIELDS administration.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.

  • Licensure or supervision eligibility (ASW, MFTI, LCSW, LMFT, APCC).

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or substance abuse and their families.

  • Working knowledge of individual counseling, crisis intervention, psychiatric intern supervision, clinical documentation, and multicultural and socio-economic issues.

  • Knowledge of Agency policies, HIPAA, SAPC, DMH, and other state/federal regulations for adult mental health and substance abuse programs.

  • Basic advocacy skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present ideas clearly.

  • Proficiency with personal computers and word processing software.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, make decisions, and adapt to changing needs.

  • Commitment to team objectives and SHIELDS for Families philosophies.

  • Current California driver’s license, car insurance and driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
