It is the mission of the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives to provide information access for the citizens, businesses, and agencies of the Commonwealth. To help the state maintain its competitive edge, the department offers comprehensive services which assure that our clientele has access to information resources: virtual, physical, and human. As one of ten state agencies in the country to combine library, archival, and public records programs, the department is uniquely positioned to meet these needs.

The Department is seeking a Program Coordinator to coordinate all functions of the Laura Bush 21st century grant program entitled "Lead from Where You Are". This program supports projects to develop a diverse workforce of library and archival professionals.

The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non- merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.

  • Provides professional administrative support to KDLA lead grant staff (i.e. Executive Staff Advisor, Commissioner, LD Branch Manager, CE Section Supervisor etc.)
  • Coordinates the work of public library/KDLA staff who serve as subject matter experts developing training programs to develop or enhance professional development that enables the library and archival workforce to meet the needs of their communities.
  • Conducts testing/troubleshooting to ensure quality before publication. Provides support in communication/meeting/planning/outreach.
  • Reviews deadlines and communicates to project partners and stakeholders.

  • Works with other staff to create the deliverables which include web resources, toolkit, instructions, videos, and marketing plan.
  • Performs administrative assistance for the project overall, conducts outreach if needed, writes communication pieces including email updates, and attends meetings/conferences to support this project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
