About the Role
Are you passionate about bringing people together and creating opportunities for connection and participation? We're seeking a proactive and organised Program Officer – Community Development to join our Living Well – Community and Recreation team at Capital Region Community Services (CRCS).
This full-time fixed-term role running until July 2028 coordinates community groups, events and community development activities that strengthen social connection and wellbeing across the Capital Region. A key focus is coordinating Connect Up, our community groups program, while supporting community-led initiatives, volunteers, facilitators and community partnerships.
Based across CRCS community sites, including the Belconnen Community Centre and Belconnen Youth Centre, you'll help deliver welcoming, inclusive programs that encourage people of all ages to connect, participate and thrive.
Your responsibilities will include:
Coordinating the delivery of Connect Up community groups, activities and events.
Developing program schedules, resources and promotional information.
Building positive relationships with participants, volunteers, facilitators and community partners.
Supporting the recruitment, onboarding and coordination of volunteers and facilitators.
Managing program administration, participant records and reporting.
Monitoring program outcomes and contributing to continuous improvement.
Ensuring programs are delivered safely and in line with CRCS policies, quality standards and safeguarding requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A relevant qualification and/or experience in community development, community services or a related field.
Experience coordinating community programs, activities or events.
Strong organisational, communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities and solve problems.
Confidence using digital systems for administration and reporting.
A current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
A current driver's licence and access to a registered, comprehensively insured vehicle for work purposes.
Desirable Qualifications
Current First Aid or Mental Health First Aid certification
Knowledge of community development, trauma-informed practice or Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) principles.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate their commitment to child safety and undergo rigorous screening processes, including Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) checks.
