Overview:
The Young Maker is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Robotics Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in robotics and programming, with expertise in LEGO SPIKE Prime/Essential and other robotics kits such as LEGO WEDO 3.0. Experience in preparing and coaching students for robotics competitions is highly desirable. Classes are conducted in person, and new teachers will participate in shadow sessions to gain insight into our teaching methods and classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Teach robotics using LEGO SPIKE Prime, LEGO SPIKE Essential, and LEGO WEDO 3.0 kits.
- Prepare students for robotics competitions such as FLL (First Lego League) and similar tournaments.
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that incorporate hands-on robotics activities, coding principles, and teamwork skills.
- Instruct students in programming concepts using block-based languages (e.g., Scratch) and introduce them to syntax-based programming (e.g., Python) when applicable.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and tailored support to help them excel.
- Foster an inclusive and encouraging classroom environment that sparks curiosity and creativity in STEM subjects.
- Participate in shadow sessions to gain familiarity with The Young Maker's teaching philosophy and class dynamics.
- Collaborate with colleagues to refine curriculum content and teaching approaches, incorporating the latest trends in robotics and STEM education.
- Stay updated with advancements in educational robotics tools and methodologies to maintain a cutting-edge learning experience for students.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in using LEGO SPIKE Prime, LEGO SPIKE Essential, and LEGO WEDO 3.0 robotics kits.
- Familiarity with block-based programming and an understanding of syntax-based programming (e.g., Python).
- Experience in coaching or mentoring students for robotics competitions like FLL or similar events is strongly preferred.
- Previous teaching experience, especially with young learners, is an advantage.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1.5 – 8 per week
