What You’ll Do

PSC is seeking a full time Project Engineer with power industry experience to support our Generator Testing and Power System Studies teams. You will have an interest in managing projects and also performing specialist engineering consultancy services for both New Zealand and Australia based clients. Some of the work includes synchronous and inverter based generator testing, tuning and modelling; and power quality, connection, and network planning studies.

Reporting to the Manager, Power Network Solutions, the Project Engineer will:

  • Deliver engineering consultancy services .
  • Manage several testing and studies projects.
  • Manage client expectations through regular communications and responsiveness.
  • Coordinate project workflows with PSC colleagues locally and around the world.


What you'll bring to succeed in this role:


  • 3+ years of experience in power system analysis in generation, transmission and/or distribution systems.
  • Previous experience leading projects.
  • Experience in the use of PSS/E and/or PowerFactory and/or PSCAD network simulation software is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – in particular, established habits of clear and unambiguous email and technical document writing, and an ability to present an argument clearly and concisely.
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering is required, with higher degrees looked upon favourably.

At PSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role - we want you to come in and grow, not feel like you're at the top of your grade with no scope to have a career. As compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, and this role is dependent on the individual's attributes, a reasonable estimate of the current range (dependent on candidate experience) is:


$110,000 NZD to $180,000 NZD
