About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex civil construction projects within the sewer and watermain sector. This role is ideal for a construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building strong client relationships, and is passionate about delivering high-quality projects safely, on time, and on budget.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects across both private and municipal sectors. Working closely with Site Coordinators, Subcontractors, Suppliers, and Clients, you will provide leadership throughout all phases of project delivery, from planning and budgeting through construction and warranty support.

The successful candidate will be a proactive leader with strong financial acumen, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of multiple civil construction projects simultaneously.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones and deliverables are achieved.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address delays, risks, and resource constraints.
  • Coordinate project activities with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.

Financial & Budget Management

  • Manage project budgets and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly project financial reports, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Identify cost overruns and implement corrective action plans to maintain project profitability.
  • Ensure accurate project accounting and cost control practices are maintained.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize company exposure.
  • Manage contractual obligations and ensure compliance with subcontractor and supplier agreements.
  • Implement strategies to address schedule, financial, operational, and construction-related risks.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to Site Coordinators, Superintendents, and project teams.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining accountability for project outcomes.
  • Foster collaboration and communication among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor field personnel to ensure successful project execution.

Client & Stakeholder Relations

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, and project partners.
  • Ensure client expectations are understood and consistently met throughout project delivery.
  • Communicate project updates, challenges, and solutions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for project-related matters.

Procurement & Contract Administration

  • Lead tendering, bid evaluations, subcontractor selection, and project buy-outs.
  • Review and approve contracts, scopes of work, and purchase agreements.
  • Manage contract administration and ensure compliance with project requirements.

Quality & Safety Management

  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality standards, safety requirements, and project objectives are being achieved.
  • Promote and enforce company safety programs and industry best practices.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable regulations, permits, specifications, and company standards.
  • Work closely with field leadership to maintain organized, efficient, and productive job sites.

Post-Construction Support

  • Coordinate project closeout activities and documentation.
  • Provide post-construction support, including warranty-related service and client follow-up.
  • Ensure smooth project turnover and client satisfaction upon completion.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of Project Management experience in civil construction.
  • Demonstrated experience managing sewer, watermain, underground infrastructure, or municipal construction projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with municipal and private-sector construction projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Highly organized with exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Gold Seal Certification (considered an asset).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation (considered an asset).
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License with the ability to travel to project sites.
  • Health and Safety certifications relevant to the construction industry.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent travel to client job sites across Niagara Region.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors and in various site conditions (construction zones, roadways, etc.).
