About Us:

E.C. Power & Lighting Ltd. is an Electrical and Utility Contractor servicing Southern Ontario, operating since 1996. We deliver our experience as a General Contractor, or Sub-Contractor to public and private sector clients, offering project management and construction management. Our services include utility installations, traffic signals, roadway and parking lot lighting, directional boring, vacuum truck services and fiber optic cable installation.

Position Overview:

Project Managers at E.C. Power & Lighting Ltd will be responsible for full cycle management and execution of electrical and utility construction projects. You will also be assisting in the preparation and documentation of the Estimating and Material/Subcontracts procurement processes for all necessary electrical aspects of the project. You will work closely with Ownership and our team of Project Managers and Estimators to make a positive impact and play and integral role in the efficient execution of work. This includes overseeing schedules, budgets, and coordination between office and field personnel. The Project Manager ensures that projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role involves significant interaction with general contractors, owners, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure all project requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets. Track progress and milestones.
  • Coordinate with foremen, site crews, and office staff to maintain project schedules. Conduct weekly meetings to review project status and address any issues.
  • Handle change orders, track project progress, and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.
  • Facilitate communication between office and field personnel to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Conduct weekly scheduling meetings with upper management to align project timelines and milestones.
  • Correspond with general contractors, owners, and suppliers regularly to ensure all project requirements are met.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve any issues that arise. Ensure all work is performed according to project specifications.
  • Attend site meetings with owners, general contractors, and other stakeholders to review project status and address concerns.
  • Develop and manage project budgets based on estimates and actual expenditures.
  • Regularly update financial forecasts to reflect project changes.
  • Prepare and submit monthly billings and invoices, itemizing and quantifying work performed and materials used, to the contractor administrator.
  • Manage and account for project extras and take-offs.
  • Coordinate with accounts receivable to ensure timely approval and payment of invoices.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation for all projects. Conduct regular reviews to ensure budget adherence.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for project materials.
  • Issue Request for Quotations (RFQ), collect and compare quotes, and place orders for materials.
  • Monitor procurement processes to avoid project delays due to long lead times. Ensure timely delivery of materials to job sites.
  • Prepare quotes for extra work based on instruction notices and change orders provided by the client, and Manage Changes Orders
  • Assisting other Project Managers/Estimators with Daily Tasks as Required

Education & Experience:

  • Post Secondary Education: P.Eng, Construction Management, CET, or related field preferred.
  • 309A Electrical Journeyman License an asset
  • 5+ years of proven project management and construction experience.
  • General understanding of Utility, Electrical and Construction
  • Valid Drivers License

Job Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and planning skills demonstrated by the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license required for site visits and meetings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for clear interaction with team members, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Advanced problem-solving, negotiating and analytical skills for addressing project challenges and finding effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all responsibilities are managed efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and Outlook Email).
  • Familiarity with procurement and project management software. (ie. Primavera P6, MS Project and/or Procore).

Pay: $110,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
