- Based at our Bentley Campus
Curtin University’s Properties, Facilities and Development (PF&D) team is seeking a proactive and organised Project Officer to support the delivery of minor works, trades requests, and low risk construction & interior projects across our vibrant campuses.
About the role
In this role, you’ll coordinate and implement project activities, provide high-level support to larger initiatives, and ensure the timely, efficient delivery of a wide range of property-related projects. Working closely with the Manager, Interiors & Minor Projects, you’ll be a key point of contact for project communications, stakeholder coordination, and contractor engagement.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of minor capital and refurbishment projects valued up to $250,000. These projects typically involve interior fitouts, building modifications, and small-scale infrastructure improvements across the University’s campuses.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background and hands-on experience in the construction or building industry and who is passionate about delivering high-quality projects within an educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of minor works and interiors projects.
- Manage stakeholder communication, ensuring alignment across internal and external partners.
- Prepare project documentation, reports, review schedules, and risk assessments.
- Administer contracts and approve progress claims within delegated authority.
- Liaise with external contractors and monitor project outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Support business case and project initiation documentation development.
- Ensure compliance with Curtin’s Standards and Guidelines.
You are an organised, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. You’ll have strong project coordination skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within deadlines.
Essential:
- Relevant qualifications in construction, building, architecture, or a related discipline (minimum Diploma level).
- Trade qualifications or experience within the maintenance or facilities sector will be highly regarded.
- Proven experience in construction project delivery, from planning and design through to completion.
- Strong understanding of contractor management, budget control, and safety compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated research and analytical capabilities.
- Strong computer literacy, including MS Office, and property data systems.
- Experience or understanding of statutory and compliance requirements in the building industry.
- Experience in a tertiary or large, multidisciplinary organisation.
- Familiarity with integrated public realm and built environment project delivery.
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
- Current “C” Class Driver’s Licence (or equivalent).
- White Card - while this is mandatory, you can initiate this upon joining if not already obtained
